College basketball: Local products contribute to UConn-AP results

Stonington High graduate Tatyana LaFrance Boyce, a sophomore guard, had 32 points and 14 rebounds to lead the UConn-Avery Point women’s basketball team to a 93-52 non-region win over Nassau Community College at the CCRI Invitational tournament Saturday in Warwick.

LaFrance Boyce went a perfect 7 for 7 from the free-throw line for the Pointers (10-5).

On the men’s side, Jacee Hamelin, a Westerly High graduate, scored 19 points, and Amadi White, a Stonington High grad, had 13 points and eight rebounds in the Pointers’ 70-60 non-region loss to North Country CC in Groton.

Hamelin is a sophomore guard for AP (4-9); White is a sophomore forward.
