WATERFORD — Ashaway’s Kyle James took the lead two laps into the race and dominated the SK-Modified feature at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl Saturday night.
James led the final 38 laps of the 40-lap feature.
James had damaged his car on Aug. 18 and had to replace the right front.
James drove past Joey Turnullo and Andrew Molleur in the first two laps and was in control the rest of the way to earn his sixth win of the year.
“The car was darn good,” James said in a press release from the Speedbowl. “I can’t complain about anything.”
James said it was a busy week for his crew and their work showed on Saturday night.
“After what happened last week, everyone on the crew really had to dig in, “James said. “And they made the car even better.”
Ian Brew of Wood River Junction placed sixth in the 25-lap Mini Stocks feature. Charlestown’s Dale Sherman was eighth.
Westerly’s Rit Shawn finished eighth in the 30-lap Sportsman event.
Corey Caddick placed third in the 25-lap Legends race. North Stonington’s Tom Metcalf was second in the 25-lap Speedbowl Trucks feature. Stonington’s Todd Taylor was fifth and Richmond’s Dylan Cabral was sixth.
