Boys lacrosse: St. Bernard/Wheeler’s ride ends in Class S quarterfinals

GRANBY, Conn. — The season came to an end Saturday for the St. Bernard/Wheeler co-op boys lacrosse team.

Fourth-seeded Granby defeated SBW, 16-3, in the Class S quarterfinals to advance to a semifinal matchup with No. 9 St. Joseph.

No. 5 SBW finished 14-4, the best season in the five-year history of the co-op.

Wheeler High’s Scott Pion had one goal and one assist, Roland Long scored once and goalie Danny Schroeder made 14 saves. St. Bernard’s Billy Niles scored a goal, and Pat Brady had an assist.
