NORTH STONINGTON — Windham picked up its first win of the season, beating Wheeler High, 7-4, in an ECC Division III baseball game Thursday.

Chris Haines singled in two runs in the first inning and another in the seventh for the Lions (5-12, 2-9 Division III). Justin Veal and Joe DeMarco each finished 2 for 3.

Starter Bowen Baker struck out nine and reliever Seth Jones had four Ks. Despite the 13 strikeouts — and just four walks — Windham (1-18, 1-11) managed to parlay seven hits into seven runs.

Wheeler next plays Grasso Tech at the Pawcatuck Little League complex on Friday at 3:45 p.m.
