Boys lacrosse: Brady’s last-second goal sends SB/Wheeler to Class S quarterfinals

UNCASVILLE — Pat Brady’s goal in the final second lifted the St. Bernard/Wheeler High co-op boys team to a thrilling win over Morgan, 10-9, in the first round of the Class S boys lacrosse tournament Wednesday.

His brother, Emmett Brady, assisted on the winning goal. It was the first lead of the game for SBW, and no time was left on the clock after the score.

SBW was down a man when the winning goal occurred. Pat Brady finished with four goals.

Wheeler’s Scott Pion scored three times, and St. Bernard’s Jack O’Leary had three goals and an assist.

Fifth-seeded SBW (14-3) travels to No. 4 Granby for a quarterfinal game on Saturday at 3 p.m. Granby beat No. 13 North Branford, 13-6.

No. 12 Morgan finished the season 9-9.
