WILLIMANTIC, Conn. — Windham limited Wheeler High to five points in the fourth quarter and turned back the Lions, 47-37, in an ECC Division III girls basketball game Friday.
Wheeler trailed 23-21 at the half and 33-32 at the end of three quarters.
“We had a little bit of foul trouble, but we were moving the ball around really well,” Wheeler coach Christine Corah said. “The girls were communicating and switching defenses. And we handled the press far better than anyone anticipated.”
Emma Morgan led the Lions in scoring with 12 points. Molly Butremovic finished with seven points and nine rebounds.
Wheeler is now 2-4, 0-3 Division III with the loss. Windham moved to 2-3, 1-1.
