NORTH STONINGTON — Molly Butremovic finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Wheeler High earned its first girls basketball victory of the season, 41-24, over Norwich Tech on Monday.

Emma Morgan added nine points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals for the Lions (1-1). Savannah Galluci had six points and 11 boards. Butremovic also had three assists and two steals.

“We did a phenomenal job of working together and figuring out how to highlight our individual strengths,” coach Christine Corah said. “We moved the ball around the perimeter and were being reactive and reading the defense. … I’m really proud of them for finally starting to pull it together.”

Geovonna Taitague led the Warriors (0-2) with 11 points.

Wheeler next travels to Ledyard on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game.
