NORTH STONINGTON — Plainfield spoiled the Wheeler High girls basketball team’s Senior Night, 52-30, in an ECC Division III game Tuesday.

Sam Caster hit four 3-pointers and scored 14 points for the Lions (6-13, 2-9 Division III), who had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Chloe LaPierre led the Panthers (12-6, 9-2) with 18 points, including three 3s.

“We tried a few different ways to handle their outside shooters, but Plainfield’s just a good team,” Wheeler coach Christine Corah said.

Emma Morgan added 10 rebounds, six assists and five steals for the Lions. All 10 players on the roster saw action in the loss.

“It was nice to see everyone contribute,” Corah said, “whether it was playing defense, making a shot or getting a rebound. We played like a unit and that’s all I care about.”

Wheeler next visits Griswold on Friday for a 7 p.m. game.
