Boys cross country: Bulldogs fall twice in meet with Chariho, NK

WESTERLY — Westerly High dropped a pair of races in its Southern Division boys cross country opener at Bradford Preserve on Tuesday against two of the traditional powers in the league.

Westerly lost to North Kingstown, 16-43, and Chariho, 23-32. 

Sam Lutzel was Westerly’s top runner, placing seventh in 18:28 on the 3.1-mile course. Nick Turo was 10th in 18:48.

Westerly’s other scorers were Tanner Kelly (11th, 18:51); Thomas McLaughlin (15th, 19:21); and Colby Makin (21st, 19:40).

Westerly next hosts Narragansett, Prout and Middlebridge on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
