Girls indoor track: Burr finishes fourth in 1,000 at New Englands to lead Westerly



BOSTON — Westerly High’s Randi Burr repeated as an All-New England runner by finishing fourth in the 1,000 meters at the New England indoor track and field championships Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Burr finished in a time of 2:53.95. The winner was Emily Philippides of Greenwich, Conn., in 2:51.30.

The top six finishers earned All-New England honors.

Last season, Burr was All-New England in the mile. She finished sixth.

Westerly also had good performances in relays on Saturday.

The 4x400 team of Liz Letizio, Helena Hall-Thomsen, Sydney Federico and Jaime Murray placed sixth (4:03.52) to earn All-New England honors.

The 4x200 squad of Caelan Holdredge, Federico, Murray and Hall-Thomsen was 11th (1:48.24), and the 4x800 team of Murray, Letizio, Kata Cummings and Burr was also 11th (9:44.74).
