GREENSBORO, N.C. — Westerly High’s distance medley relay placed third in the Emerging Elite race at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor on Sunday.
John Walker, Zach Menard, Ryan Holloway and Matthew Walker combined for a time of 10:31.84.
John Walker covered the 1,200 in 3:17.27. Zach Menard ran the 400 in 51.08 followed by Ryan Holloway’s 1:57.13 in the 800.
Holloway’s 800 leg was the fastest among the 25 teams that competed. Matthew Walker ran the final 1,600 in 4:26.37.
Christiansburg, Va. took first in 10:27.31.
Events at the nationals are either Emerging Elite or Championship.
The qualifying standards for the Emerging Elite events are not as stringent as the Championship events.
