Field hockey: Stonington blanks Fitch/Ledyard in season opener

STONINGTON — Stonington High scored both its goals in the first half, which was played Thursday, and went on to defeat the Fitch-Ledyard co-op, 2-0, on Friday in an ECC field hockey game, the season opener for both teams.

Casey Boumenot and Miranda Arruda each scored once, and Jillian Holland and Daisy Williams each had an assist for the Bears. The game was halted by lightning on Thursday and concluded on Friday.

Stonington outshot Fitch-Ledyard, 14-1.

The Bears next host Killingly on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
