The Eastern Eagles co-op ice hockey team went 1-1-1 over its last three games and wrapped up the Nutmeg Hockey Conference regular-season title.

The Eagles, comprised of student-athletes from Stonington, Wheeler, Fitch, East Lyme, Ledyard, Hale-Ray, Waterford and Griswold high schools, defeated the Shepaug/Litchfield/Thomaston/Nonnewaug co-op, 4-0, in a nonleague game Tuesday at Connecticut College’s Dayton Arena in New London.

Stonington High’s Jake Verbridge and Will Cannella each had assists in the victory.

On Sunday, Cannella had a goal and an assist as the Eagles tied Suffield/Granby/Windsor Locks, 3-3, at Dayton to clinch the NHC regular-season crown.

And last Friday, Cannella had another assist in the Eagles’ 10-2 nonleague loss to Wethersfield/Middletown/Rocky Hill/Plainville at Newington Arena.

The Eagles (14-3-3) will next host Tri-Town on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Dayton for the NHC title.
