Soccer: Piver Cup to kick off on Saturday

STONINGTON — Stonington High will host the Joshua Piver Cup soccer tournament starting Saturday.

Chariho High will take on Fitch in the first boys game of the day at 12:30 p.m. Stonington High faces Westerly High in the second game at 3 p.m.

The Chariho and Fitch girls will play at 5:30 p.m., followed by Westerly and Stonington at 8 p.m.

The championship and consolation games are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15.

Tickets, which will be good for the entire day, are $5 for all spectators, except children under 10.

Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Joshua Piver Scholarship Foundation. Piver, a former Stonington goalie, was killed during the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City.
