Returning to varsity:

Senior:

Elizabeth LaCroix (captain).

Juniors:

Anna Golas (co-captain), Emily Stevens.

Sophomores:

Cordelia Calberson, Abby Cole, Paige Grissom, Brynn McCarthy, Orla Peck.

New to varsity:

Freshmen:

Caitlyn Allenson, Julia Fortune, Anna LaCroix, Ruby Rice.

Outlook:

Chariho is looking to put together one of its best seasons in the last few years, and they may have the talent to do it.

Elizabeth LaCroix will lead the way after missing the first month of the season last year.

Still, she was able to earn second-team Class B honors and qualified for the state and New England meets. She finished 25th at the state meet.

“She’s very, very diligent to her time,” Haberland said. “She missed most of the dual meet season last year, but she is 100 percent now.”

LaCroix was third-team All-State and first-team Southern Division as a sophomore.

After that, her younger sister, Anna, and Cole look to be the next two runners on the team. LaCroix was ninth at the middle school state championships last season even though she was not 100 percent healthy.

Cole was the No. 2 runner on the team for much of last season and ran in the top spot when Elizabeth LaCroix was out.

Grissom, Fortune and Golas are very close in their times and will be in the running to score. Peck, Rice and Calberson could also fill in some gaps as the season moves along.

“We’re pretty excited,” Haberland said.

Coach’s take:

“They want to make the states as a team, not as individuals. We have to finish in the top three in the division or the Class meet. I think they can do it.”
