New London woman charged with DUI following Saturday morning crash in Mystic

STONINGTON — A New London woman is facing DUI charges following a Saturday morning crash along Route 27 in Mystic.

Ivy Florence Murch, 23, was taken into custody following the crash, police said, and is facing charges of driving under the influence and failure to drive to the right. She was later released on bond and is due in New London Superior Court on March 5.

According to a police summary, Murch was driving north along the Greenmanville Avenue section of Route 27 in the area just north of Mistuxet Avenue around 1 a.m. when a police report said she veered off the eastern side of the road and struck a tree. The crash caused damage to Murch’s car, but police said she was uninjured.

During the investigation, police said Murch showed signs of intoxication. She agreed to a field obriety test which she failed, according to police.

Officers said she was cooperative throughout the testing and was charged without further incident.
