NORTH STONINGTON — A North Stonington woman has been charged with second-degree manslaughter in the death of Christopher M. Bosma, 41, who was struck by the woman’s car as he stood in front of his property last July.
The woman, Janet S. Henderson, 66, of 62J Patricia Ave., North Stonington, surrendered Wednesday to Troop E of the State Police in Montville after being notified of the arrest warrant. She was also charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive to the right.
According to the state police, Henderson was released after posting $50,000 bond. She is expected to appear for arraignment in New London Superior Court on June 27.
According to a police report, Henderson was northbound on Cossaduck Hill Road (Route 201) in a Dodge Grand Caravan early in the afternoon of July 18, 2017, when she swerved off the east side of the roadway and hit Bosma as he was standing at his property line at 162 Cossaduck Hill Road.
Bosma was pronounced dead at the scene. Henderson was uninjured, the police said, but there was significant damage to the front end of her car. The car, which belonged to her husband, Douglas Henderson, was towed from the scene.
Details of the DUI charge were not immediately clear, as that information was not part of the criminal information summary released Wednesday afternoon by the state police.
