Several units damaged at Cove Ledge Inn in Stonington after Sunday evening fire



STONINGTON — Multiple units were damaged after a fire erupted at the Cove Ledge Inn on Sunday evening, leaving several units uninhabitable.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, which erupted in a rental apartment at the site of the Cove Ledge Inn, 842 Stonington Road, around 6:30 p.m. Officials said that prior to firefighter arrival, staff and those staying in the six-unit building had already evacuated safely.

Wequotequock firefighters, assisted by the Stonington Borough and Pawcatuck fire departments, were able to quickly extinguish the blaze. Officials indicated that the fire began in Unit 13, although the exact cause remains under investigation.

At least three of the units were considered uninhabitable, although it was unclear whether anyone would be considered displaced. Further details were not released Sunday night.
