EXETER (AP) — An Alabama man who was working in Rhode Island doing cleanup after the recent nor’easters has been arrested on a rape warrant out of his home state. The man, Allen Johnson, 23, of Roanoke, Ala., was arrested Monday at a job site in Exeter, according to the Rhode Island State Police. 23-
Officers first encountered Johnson on March 5 when someone called Narragansett police to complain that a branch had fallen on his car while Johnson and others were trimming a tree. The department later learned that there was a warrant for Johnson’s arrest out of Randolph County, Ala. He had been working for Davey Tree Expert Company. A spokeswoman told WJAR-TV that the company is doing an internal review.
Johnson is being held in Rhode Island pending extradition to Alabama.
