RICHMOND — A Maine woman was arrested on a felony drug charge Tuesday after a DUI-related traffic stop on Main St. The woman, Angele Gowerbenoit, 28, of Lisbon, Maine, has been charged with felony and misdemeanor possession of controlled substances, DUI, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. She was arraigned Wednesday in Fourth Division District Court.
Richmond Cpl. Adam Andrukiewicz said he saw Gowerbenoit’s vehicle go through the yield sign at the southbound Exit 3 ramp from I-95 at 5:15 p.m. According to a police report, she nearly sideswiped a westbound van on Main Street.
The officer conducted a field sobriety test and took Gowerbenoit into custody. A search of the car produced nine tabs of LSD and more than 4.3 ounces of marijuana. Gowerbenoit was being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston in lieu of a $25,000 surety, according to state records, and is due in court June 1 for a felony screening.
