Police seize butane oil, drug paraphernalia during investigation into suspicious car

RICHMOND — An 18-year-old is facing charges after police said an investigation into a suspicious car over the weekend led officers to seize a small amount of butane hash oil and other drug paraphernalia.

Emma M. Collins, of 266 Alton Bradford Road in Wood River Junction, was charged Sunday with felony possession of a controlled substance. She was arraigned before a justice of the peace and later released on a promise to appear in Fourth Division District Court later this month.

According to police, Collins and an unidentified second person were sitting in a car at the Meadowbrook Pond fishing area when an officer stopped in to check on the car because of suspicious behavior. During the course of the investigation, police discovered several pieces of drug paraphernalia, as well as a small amount of butane hash oil.

The items, which police said Collins admitted owning, were seized as evidence. Collins was a passenger in the car at the time, police said, and was taken into custody without further incident. The driver was not charged, police said.
