STONINGTON — A reported oil slick on Monday proved to be just a minor leak after officials said the possible slick dissipated before emergency officials were even able to determine the source of the small spill.
Pawcatuck firefighters and Stonington police were called to the Pawcatuk River in the area of the boat ramps across from the Connors & O’Brien Marina on Mechanic Street. Officials said there was initially some signs of a slick in the water, but that the possible slick began to dissipate on its own before all responders arrived. The slick was likely caused by a boat launch, officials said, and was not expected to have any negative impact.
Emergency officials were cleared from the scene approximately 15 minutes after the slick was reported.
