STONINGTON — A Moss Street resident is facing DUI and other charges after police said he was involved in a hit-and-run crash near his home Saturday evening.
Christopher John Girard, 24, of 11 Moss St., was charged Saturday evening with driving under the influence and evading responsibility in a crash causing damage to property. He was later released on a $600 non-surety bond, police said, and is due for arraignment in New London Superior Court on March 28.
Police were called to Moss Street shortly before 9 p.m. for reports of a hit-and-run crash in which a car struck another vehicle then drove away. While investigating, police said officers watched Girard return home in a car matching the description and damage of that involved in the crash.
Girard showed signs of intoxication and was given a field sobriety test, which he failed. He admitted to striking a second car before leaving the scene, police said.
