Medical condition cited as cause of Richmond crash that damaged CVS store

RICHMOND — A medical condition has been cited as the cause of a weekend accident at the CVS on Main Street after police said a car jumped the curb and hit a side wall, damaging the store. The police were called to the store, at 1187 Main St., just after 1 p.m. Sunday. Officers said an 89-year-old woman suffered a “minor medical condition” that caused her Volkswagen Beetle to go out of control.

The woman was expected to make a full recovery. “Fortunately no one was injured, but the crash resulted in damage to both the exterior and interior walls, and knocked items off the store shelves inside,” said Richmond Police Chief Elwood M. Johnson Jr.
