A small-caliber bullet was found on the floor of the Chariho library conference room on Thursday afternoon. School Superintendent Barry Ricci said, “It was found because someone was looking for a piece of jewelry and they found this bullet under the radiator.”
School Resource Officer Anthony Zoglio checked the library and found no additional bullets. Ricci said school custodians would “sweep the building” as they cleaned the high school on Thursday night.
Ricci sent a “one call” message to parents with the following message: “I’m providing this notification to you out of an abundance of caution and with sensitivity regarding current events. Late this afternoon, a single bullet was found under a radiator in a conference room in the school library used by adults. While we have no idea how long the bullet was in this location, we are pleased that its existence was called to our attention by our students. The superintendent, SRO and chief of police were notified and a sweep of the area was performed by the SRO. All are in agreement that Chariho High School is safe.”
