STONINGTON — Two Virginia men have been charged with second degree sexual assault and impairing the morals of a minor as the result of an encounter with an underage girl from New York while in the area on business last July.
The men, brothers Cody Richard Brockman, 32, of Kilmarnock, and Jerry Wayne Brockman, 20, of Harrisonburg, were arrested Monday after turning themselves in to the Stonington police. They were arraigned that day in New London Superior Court and are due back on April 3, when disposition of the case is expected, according to court records.
The police said they met with the underage girl on at least three occasions over two days. The encounter came to light when the girl returned to school and shared the information, leading school officials to contact the police.
Stonington Police Capt. Todd Olson said it was unclear if the men knew her real age. Olson said everyone was cooperative with officers during the investigation and the brothers agreed to return from Virginia after the warrant was issued about a month ago. They were released on a promise to appear in court.
