In the Easy Chair with Meghan Riley

AGE: 30

OCCUPATION: Art educator.

RESIDENCE: Richmond.

BORN, RAISED & GREW UP IN: Good old Westerly!

RIGHT NOW I’M IN THE MIDDLE OF: My sixth year teaching art, 1 year of stitches embroidery challenge.

FAVORITE WAY TO SPEND MY TIME: Pottery class, being with family, and camping/hiking with my husband.

PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: The life I’ve built for myself, and the people I surround myself with.

I’D LIKE TO BE REMEMBERED FOR: Being a kind, happy person.

TOP ON MY BUCKET LIST: I’d love to hike Antelope Canyon in Arizona.

ALWAYS IN MY POCKET: A hair elastic and a high five.

PERSON WHO HAS INFLUENCED ME THE MOST: My mother, Dawn Limanni, by far. Without her I wouldn’t be where I am (Love you mom!).

FAVORITE AUTHOR: At the moment, John Green.

I AM READING: “The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender,” by Leslye Walton.

I AM LISTENING TO: A summer playlist I made – Third Eye Blind, Pink Floyd, Paramore, Mumford and Sons.

FAVORITE MOVIE: My favorite movie will always be “Twister!”

FAVORITE TV SHOW: I haven’t had cable in years, but I could watch “How I Met Your Mother” over and over.

FAVORITE PET: Getting a dog soon, hopefully.

FAVORITE COMFORT FOOD: My mom’s mashed potatoes, and Grammie’s homemade soup.

TRAIT I MOST ADMIRE: Complete honesty.

PET PEEVE: Close-mindedness.

FAVORITE QUOTATION: “It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.” -– Eddie Vedder.

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT OUR LITTLE CORNER OF THE WORLD: I just love living on the coast. Being able to take a ride to the beach to think, cool off, take in the view — we are very fortunate.

CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT: Creating something! I have to be making something at least once a week to fill my personal happy-quota.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT ME: I love playing Dungeons and Dragons, and going to Renaissance Faires!

BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED: Keep your chin up, and keep going!

ADVICE I BEST LIKE TO GIVE: Take time out for yourself, and be as present as possible in everything you do.

IF I RULED THE WORLD I WOULD: Be very stressed out (haha!).

IF I WON THE LOTTERY, THE FIRST THING I WOULD DO IS: Pay off those pesky student loans!

I DRIVE A: Blue 2010 Honda.

I WISH I DROVE A: Classic VW van - it’d be perfect for camping and road trips!

ALWAYS IN MY FRIDGE: Lime seltzer.

IF I COULD HOST A DINNER PARTY WITH A GROUP OF PEOPLE FROM THE PAST, PRESENT OR FUTURE, I WOULD INVITE: Lewis Carroll, Van Gogh, Dali, Jean-Michel Basquiat … I could go on forever, but I just think it’d be incredible to listen to them speak, and to understand how they see the world. The creativity alone at that dinner table would be reason enough! And of course we would have to at least paint the tablecloth! haha!
