OCCUPATION: Membership and operations director at the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce.
BORN, RAISED & GREW UP IN: Born in Westerly, raised in Tusa, Sicily, and Westerly.
RIGHT NOW I’M IN THE MIDDLE OF: Professionally, I am editing our “GoWesterly Magazine” and redesigning the chamber’s website. Personally, I am working on achieving my Triple Crown Award through Toastmasters International. I belong to the Toastmasters of Westerly club (shout out!) that meets the first and third Tuesday of the month, 6:30 p.m. at the chamber office.
I ENJOY SPENDING MY TIME: Creating art! My mediums are oil, mixed media and I just started creating artwork digitally. Check out some of my creations on my Facebook page MND Artistry.
MY PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: To date I would say graduating from college and traveling throughout Europe are my proudest accomplishments. Next is becoming a first time homeowner.
I’D LIKE TO BE REMEMBERED FOR: Being a loyal friend, dedicated and hard worker, and hostess with the mostest!
TOP ON MY BUCKET LIST: To go on a safari (which I was very close to doing in 2017).
ALWAYS IN MY POCKET: A ChapStick and my phone.
WHAT I WANTED TO BE WHEN I GREW UP: As a child, I wanted to be teacher. I would play school with the neighborhood girls and have them take multiple choice tests, even though they couldn’t read.
PERSON WHO HAS INFLUENCED ME THE MOST: My parents, Lina and Nico. They have taught me good morals, empathy towards others, strength to do what needs to be done even if it’s tough, and allowed me the freedom to do what I felt was right. Most importantly, they taught me to always follow my heart.
FAVORITE BOOK: “Water for Elephants” by Sara Gruen.
BOOKS ON MY NIGHTSTAND: The Harry Potter Series. I loved the movies and I’m compelled to read the books.
I AM LISTENING TO: Podcasts! I like listening to unsolved mysteries and crime. “Crime Town,” “Martinis & Murder,” and “This American Life” are a few of my favorites.
FAVORITE MOVIES: Two of my favorite movies of all time are “The Goonies” and “Bridesmaids.”
FAVORITE TV SHOW: ”Parks and Recreation.” It is so funny! If I wasn’t working at the chamber I would want to work for Pawnee’s Parks and Recreation department.
FAVORITE SONG: Anything upbeat that I can dance to!
FAVORITE COMFORT FOOD: Everything my mom makes and sushi.
SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES I USE MOSTLY: Facebook and Instagram. I’ve been using Snapchat but just for the fun filters!
TRAIT I MOST ADMIRE: Humor: If you can make me laugh, we are going to be friends.
PET PEEVE: People invading my personal space while shopping.
FAVORITE QUOTATION: “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light” — J.K. Rowling
MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT OUR LITTLE CORNER OF THE WORLD: Is how much our area has to offer. Beautiful beaches, a bustling downtown, fun things to do all year round and a great sense of community pride and spirit.
CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT: My family (and friends that are like family), the beach, my phone and makeup!
LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT ME: I LOVE Halloween and I’m on a mission to recreate every classic Halloween character/monster of my homemade designs.
BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED: “If it’s not your passion, it’s your prison.”
ADVICE I BEST LIKE TO GIVE: “Always ask, the worst they can say is no.”
IF I RULED THE WORLD I WOULD: I would make sure that everyone had enough to eat and that we could minimize food waste. In this modern society, there is no reason that there are people who go to bed hungry, especially in this country.
IF I WON THE LOTTERY, THE FIRST THING I WOULD DO IS: Travel the world and bring my friends and family along. Invest in my friends’ company called Nuttin Ordinary, create a scholarship program in my family’s name, and pay off school lunches for kids in need in our area.
I DRIVE A: 2007 silver Toyota Yaris.
I WISH I DROVE A: Subaru Crosstrek (Hi Bruce!).
ALWAYS IN MY FRIDGE: Flavored soda water, multiple types of cheese and fruit.
IF I COULD HOST AN EVENT WITH A GROUP OF SPECIAL PEOPLE, I WOULD INVITE: All my friends and family to a fabulous dinner party.
