‘Cinderella’ opens Broadway Series at Foxwoods

MASHANTUCKET —The Broadway Series at Foxwoods Resort Casino will return May 8 to 13 with Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” for seven shows in the Fox Theater.

“Our first Broadway Series at Foxwoods was as much a success as we could have imagined, so we decided to answer the overwhelming demand to bring it back again this year, beginning with ‘Cinderella,’” said Monique Sebastian, Foxwoods’ vice president of entertainment and entertainment marketing. “The Broadway Series at Foxwoods is very popular with all of our guests, and appeals not only to families, but would make a great girls night out or date night, so we think it will again be one of the hottest tickets in the Northeast.”

Sebastian said the version, with its fresh new take on the beloved tale of a young woman who is transformed from a chambermaid into a princess, is the hilarious and romantic show and combines the story’s classic elements – glass slippers, pumpkin and a beautiful ball, along with some surprising twists.

“More than just a pretty face with the right shoe size, this Cinderella is a contemporary figure living in a fairytale setting,” she said in a media release. “She is a spirited young woman with savvy and soul who doesn’t let her rags or her gowns trip her up in her quest for kindness, compassion and forgiveness. Cinderella longs to escape the drudgery of her work at home and instead work to make the world a better place. She not only fights for her own dreams, but forces the prince to open his eyes to the world around him and realize his dreams too.”

Tickets for Cinderella go on sale Friday, March 9 and are available at foxwoods.com/Cinderella or by calling Foxwoods at 800-200-2882 or Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000. Tickets are also available on site at any Foxwoods box office. Tickets are $44 and $30. Additional performances in The Broadway Series at Foxwoods will be announced throughout the spring.
