Dec. 26 – 29Holiday Basketball Tournament

2:15 to 9 p.m.; Westerly High School, 23 Ward Ave., Westerly.

Boys and girls basketball teams from Westerly, Chariho, Stonington and South Kingstown will compete with games at 2:15, 4, 6:15 and 8 p.m. The cost of admission is $3 for students and $4 for adults. Dec. 26 - 31Holiday Magic

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mystic Seaport, 75 Greenmanville Ave., Mystic.

Mystic Seaport will hold holiday activities throughout the week, including a presentation of the winter sky under the planetarium dome, historical magician E.A. Davis performance of an authentic 19th-century magic show, a “Family Christmas at Sea” tour aboard the Charles W. Morgan, crafts and storytimes. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Mystic Aquarium, 55 Coogan Blvd., Mystic.

Winterfest is week-long event with ice sculptures, gingerbread creations, live entertainment and special animal appearances. Donations of unused toys are requested. Event is included with admission. Visit mysticaquarium.org for more information.

The Westerly Library will host a Family Yoga class with Rebecca Mele. The event will include a  family oriented storytime. For ages 2 and older.

Lego Building

Noon to 2 p.m.; Groton Public Library, 52 Newtown Rd, Groton.

Children of all ages can build with Legos provided by the library.

Magic Show with Russ DeSimone

2 p.m.; Cross' Mills Public Library, 4417 Old Post Library, Charlestown.

Cross’ Mills Library will host a magic show for all ages with Russ DeSimone.

Teen Anime Marathon

11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Groton Public Library, 52 Newtown Rd, Groton.

Teens can vote for their favorite anime or Japanese movie at an all-day viewing marathon on Crunchy Roll. All showings will be rated Teen or younger. Visit groton-ct.gov/library for more information.

Snowball Launchers

5 p.m.; The Stonington Free Library, 20 High St, Stonington.

The Stonington Free Library will host a Snowball Launchers event to explore Newton's second law of motion. Participants will construct and test snowball launchers of their own design. The event is for children ages 10 and up. Registration is required by calling 860-535-0658.

Wild About Reading

10:30 a.m.; Kettle Pond Visitor Center, 50 Bend Road, Charlestown.

The Kettle Pond Visitor Center will host a nature-based story time with volunteer Cynthia Reiser The story will be followed with activities and arts & crafts. The event is for ages 3 to 6.

Thursday, Dec. 28The Children's Workshop

10 a.m.; Westerly Library & Wilcox Park, 44 Broad St, Westerly.

The Westerly Library will host a storytime with Children's Workshop.

Trudy Silver

2 p.m.; Cross' Mills Public Library, 4417 Old Post Road, Charlestown.

The Westerly Library will host Dave Marchetti Animal experience featuring a presentation portion followed by a hands-on session with turtles, snakes, lizards, amphibians, an alligator and some small mammals.

Saturday, Dec. 30Artist Academy Jr.

11 a.m.; Hygienic Art, 79 Bank St, New London.

Artist Academy Jr. will feature story-telling and creative activities led by Georgia O'Neil. The program is for children ages 4 to 10.
