Immigration rally planned for Saturday morning at Pawcatuck River bridge

The Westerly Sun

According to an announcement circulating in the Westerly area, the Westerly Huddle and the local Peace and Justice group are organizing a “close to home” immigration rally Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. on the Pawcatuck River bridge. The gathering will be held in conjunction with rallies throughout the country, including in Providene and New London, to protest the federal government’s child separation program.

The plan is that the gathering will last for an hour to deliver the message that “the separations persist and the trauma caused to these young ones have lifetime costs.” Raging Grannies from the area will lend their voices, lyrics, and spirit, according to the announcement.
