WESTERLY — “Medical Marijuana and Friends: From Illegal to Prescription?” will be the topic of The Science Cafe program on Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m., at The Malted Barley, 42 High St. The Science Cafes in Westerly are sponsored and hosted by the Rhode Island Section of the American Chemical Society.
The discussion will focus on the changing pharmaceutical landscape. In recent years marijuana has become a legal medical treatment in more than two dozen states. Other drugs that gained notoriety as illicit “recreational” substances have been given serious examination as treatments for depression, PTSD and other ailments. After the presentation, an open discussion will follow. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. This event is open to the public.
