Stonington schools to present program about special-education inclusivity

STONINGTON — A program intended to teach service providers about best practices for accommodating adults and children with disabilities will be presented Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Stonington High School Commons. 

The program, called “Inclusive Schools, Inclusive Community!” is aimed at day care centers, preschools, camps, recreational facilities, summer programs, libraries, sports organizations, and museums, and other groups. 

Presenters will share information about training and hiring of staff, suggest questions to ask parents, officer advice on how to create an appropriate environment, and give examples of common accommodations. 

The presentation is sponsored by the Stonington Public Schools Special Services Office and the Stonington Public Schools Parent Advisory Council.
