Trips

Christmas Spectacular at Radio City – Saturday, Dec. 2. Cost: $192 due at time of booking. Departs: Ashaway Park & Ride at 6:45 a.m. Travel to Radio City Music Hall for the show featuring the Rockettes, You will be delighted as Santa flies high above the audience and will be touched by the“Living Nativity.” This event is not recommended for the physically challenged. A Salem Cross Christmas – Tuesday, Dec. 5. Cost: $79. Departs: 8:30 a.m. ETA: 7:30 p.m. Travel to Spencer, Mass., where you’ll visit the St. Joseph’s Abbey Gift Shop for Trappist preserves and jellies. Next is Salem Cross Inn for lunch of chicken pot pie or maple salmon. The next stop is Yankee Candle’s Bavarian Christmas Village in Deerfield. As it gets dark, you’ll head for Bright Lights at Forest Park, a wonderful display of Christmas lights. (Fox Tours)

Needed: Wheelchairs with foot rests, transport wheelchairs, shower benches, shower chairs, transfer benches, three- or four-prong canes, walkers with wheels, and “strollers” in good, used condition to lend to area seniors.

Pawcatuck

Tuesday — Strength and balance exercise class 9:15-10:15 a.m.; Zumba class 10:20-11:20 a.m.; lunch at 11:30 a.m. of beef stew with diced vegetables, brown rice, Italian vegetable medley, pears with mandarin oranges for dessert.

Wednesday — Books and More! The Stonington Free Library is coming to the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center. Patrons may use their Stonington or Connecticut library card or apply for one. Borrow, renew, and browse, or do research. Bring a list of books you would like to borrow and they will bring the books. Learn to search the digital library catalog, how to use a Kindle or other e-reader, and how to borrow e-books through the library. Zumba Lite 9-10 a.m.; grocery shopping at McQuade’s in Westerly 9 a.m; Senior meeting at 11:00 am tai chi 1-2 p.m.; lunch at 11:30 a.m. a Thanksgiving celebration with turkey and all the fixings, Senior Club raffle. Bingo after lunch.

Thursday — Line dancing 9:30-11:30 a.m.; Walmart shopping 11 a.m.; mindful chair yoga 1:15-2:15 p.m.; dominoes, puzzles or board games from noon-2:30 p.m.

Friday — Strength and balance exercise class 9-10 a.m.; writing class 10:15-11:45 a.m. Shopping at Stop & Shop in Pawcatuck at 11 a.m.

Charlestown

Charlestown Senior/Community Center, Country Trail, Ninigret Park, 401-364-9955. Center hours are Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Lunch is served Monday through Friday at noon in the Parkside Dining Room at the Charlestown Senior/Community Center. Please make lunch reservations by noon, two days in advance, by calling Diane, our kitchen manager, at 401-364-6998 for reservations and cancellations.

Monday — Strength and stability 9 a.m.; tai chi 10:30 a.m.; cribbage 1:15 p.m.; zumba 5:30 p.m.; yoga 6:45 p.m. Today’s meal is Italian chicken soup, penne with pink sauce, meatballs, focaccia stuffed with spinach, olives and cheese, and dessert. Secondary option is roast beef on wheat.

Tuesday — Yoga 8:30 a.m.; painting with peers 10 a.m.; canasta 1:15 p.m.; core fusion 5:30 p.m. Today’s meal is New England clam chowder, fish bake with peppers, onions and potatoes, rice salad, and dessert. Secondary option is antipasto.

Wednesday — Strength and stability 9 a.m.; bridge 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.; pinochle 1:15 p.m. Today’s meal is Italian wedding soup, beef stroganoff, buttered wheat pasta, Brussel sprouts, and dessert. Secondary option is mixed green salad with chicken.

Thursday — Yoga 9 a.m.; Rummikub 10 a.m.; Scrabble 1:15 p.m.; knitting 1:15 p.m.; core fusion 5:30 p.m. Today’s meal is a Thanksgiving lunch with winter squash soup, turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes, buttered corn, whole wheat biscuit, and desserts. Secondary option is chef salad.

Friday — Strength and stability 9 a.m.; pitch 10 a.m. Today’s meal is cream of broccoli soup, chicken kabobs, wild rice, green bean salad, and dessert. Secondary option is turkey Reuben on rye.

Painting Group:  Painting with Peers meets on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. This is a casual painting group; work on your own project with peer suggestions and advice.
