MEAL MENU

For reservations, call Edie at (401) 596-7216. Recommended donation is $3. Please make reservations on Thursdays for the next week. Menu is subject to change by the caterer.

Monday – Today’s meal is minestrone soup, wheat pasta with sausage and escarole, Caesar salad, and dessert. Secondary option is Cobb salad.

Tuesday – Today’s meal is split pea soup, stuffed pepper, roasted chicken drumstick, wheat roll, and dessert. Secondary option is Greek salad with chicken.

Wednesday – Today’s meal is a Valentine’s Day meal with Italian wedding soup, prime rib with gravy, roasted potato, wax beans, whole grain biscuit, and dessert. Secondary option is egg salad on wheat.

Thursday – Today’s meal is fresh fruit, chili con carne, whole grain wild rice, roasted zucchini, and dessert. Secondary option is chicken salad plate.

Friday – Today’s meal is vegetable noodle soup, General Tso’s chicken, vegetable lo mein, eggroll with duck sauce, and dessert. Secondary option is seafood salad on wheat.

TRIPS

Flyers for all trips are available in the tan box at the end of the counter at the front office and are displayed on the bulletin board outside the front office.

Parker’s Maple Barn – Tuesday, March 20. Cost: $70. Deposit: $5. Balance due: March 1. Departs at 7:30 a.m. Celebrate spring with a trip to Mason, N.H., to experience maple sugaring. We will tour the sugar house where maple tree sap is processed into maple sugar sap. After a trip to the gift shop, sit back and relax and enjoy a luncheon. Then it’s off to Smith’s Country Cheese for a quick tour and cheese tasting. Coffee stops will be made on the way to New Hampshire and on the way home (South Kingstown Parks & Rec).

 “Exit Laughing” at the Newport Playhouse – Monday, April 9. Cost: $87 due at time of booking. Join us traveling to this unique dinner theater for a buffet followed by the comedy “Exit Laughing” from your reserved seats in the theater. After the play, you’ll return to the dining room for dessert and cabaret (Friendship Tours).

Atlantic City – May 29 to 31. Cost: $254 p.p. double or triple, $338 single, insurance available. Includes two nights at Resorts Casino Hotel, transportation, and casino bonus of $30 slots, $10 food credit, show, and 2-$20 meal credits (Friendship Tours).

NEEDED

Wheelchairs with foot rests, transport wheelchairs, shower benches, shower chairs, transfer benches, three- or four-prong canes, walkers with wheels, and “strollers” in good, used condition to lend to area seniors.

EVENTS

St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at the Aqua Turf Club, Wednesday, March 21, featuring The Maclean Avenue Band. Padraig Allen and the band have their own sound with old Irish Celtic folklore and the rock pop Celtic music of today. This band has played in America and Europe for close to 20 years. Be prepared to dance. $75 per person includes round trip bus transportation, and famiily style lunch at the club. Call Barbara at 860-599-3285, extension 15, for any questions.

Wednesday— Books and More! The Stonington Free Library is coming to the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center. Patrons may use their Stonington or Connecticut library card or apply for one. Borrow, renew, and browse, or do research. Bring a list of books you would like to borrow and they will bring the books. Learn to search the digital library catalog, how to use a Kindle or other e-reader, and how to borrow e-books through the library. Zumba Lite 9-10 a.m.; grocery shopping at McQuade’s in Westerly 9 a.m; lunch at 11:30 a.m. is a Valentine’s Day Pizza party and dessert. Bingo after lunch; Tai Chi 1 to 2 p.m.

Thursday — First and third Thursdays enjoy coffee, coloring and conversation, 9 to 10:30 a.m.; second and fourth Thursday of the each month, Veterans Coffee House 8:30 a.m.; line dancing 9:30-11:30 a.m.; Walmart shopping 11 a.m.; dominoes, puzzles or board games from noon-2:30 p.m.

Painting group:  Painting with Peers meets on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. This is a casual painting group; work on your own project with peer suggestions and advice.

AARP Tax Preparation – Beginning on Tuesday, Feb. 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday only. No reservations — first come, first served.  Please bring your tax information with you.
