WESTERLY — The Misquamicut Business Association will donate the proceeds from its Aug. 25 drive-in movie to Meadowbrook Waldorf School as the institution recovers from a devastating fire that wiped the facility out in July.
The film “Jurassic World” will be shown in the town-owned parking lot, across the street from Wuskeneau Beach, at 316 Atlantic Ave. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., previews are shown at 8 p.m. and the movie starts at 9 p.m. Admission is $15 per carload.
Caswell Cooke Jr., MBA executive director, said the MBA’s Board of Directors decided to help out after receiving a request from a teacher at a local public school. “It’s something we could do right away since the movies are already set up,” Cooke said.
The lot holds about 85 cars. Cooke said the those attending the film will also be encouraged to donate above the normal price of admission.
“We’re happy to help. Obviously this is just a small effort but if we can do something that’s awesome,” Cooke said.
The school has also established a Go Fund Me page called “Meadowbrook Rising.”
