WESTERLY — The lawyer hired to investigate claims of sexual harassment made against an employee of the Colonial Theatre is continuing his work, a theater board member said last week.
Michael D. Chittick, who practices law with the Providence-based firm Adler, Pollock & Sheehan, is continuing his investigation, said Nicholas Moore, the theater board’s vice president. Theater officials will be available for comment once the investigation is complete, Moore said.
The employee, who has not been named, was suspended in the spring soon after the complaints were lodged. An initial investigation was conducted by Moore, whose work was turned over to Chittick in June for review and additions.
The theater’s annual presentation of a Shakespeare play in Wilcox Park was not offered this summer. Instead of Shakespeare in the Park, Moore said the theater is focused this summer on work related to a new partnership with the Westerly Public Schools system.
Two individuals — one a former employee and one a prospective employee — made complaints of a hostile environment created by comments of a sexual nature, Moore has said.
