In the Easy Chair with Westerly’s Heather Morrone

AGE: 42

OCCUPATION: Realtor with Coldwell Banker Coastal Homes right here in Westerly. President of the Westerly Lions Club.

RESIDENCE: Westerly.

BORN, RAISED & GREW UP IN: Born at The Westerly Hospital, grew up in Hope Valley and moved back here when I was 21.

RIGHT NOW l'M IN THE MIDDLE OF: Trying to figure out where we put the Christmas decorations.

I ENJOY SPENDING MY TIME: With my family and watching my daughter Meghan play soccer — she is an amazing player to watch on the field!

MY PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: My daughter, Meghan. She is 17, a junior at the high school and the reality of her going off to college in less than two years is beginning to sink in … sigh.

l'D LIKE TO BE REMEMBERED FOR: Kindness and being thoughtful.

TOP ON MY BUCKET LIST: Running the Big Sur Marathon and swimming with the sharks.

ALWAYS IN MY POCKET: Lip gloss and hair elastic.

PERSON WHO HAS INFLUENCED ME THE MOST: My Dad, the late Lawrence E. Mott. He always had a smile and was happy. He always said that we shouldn't sweat the little things because in the end they really are just little things.

FAVORITE AUTHOR: James Patterson.

BOOKS ON MY NIGHT STAND: Nothing right now but I am looking for a new one to read. I prefer falling asleep reading than watching TV.

I AM LISTENING TO: Music with a good beat … Kid Rock, Florida Georgia Line, Billy Joel, some Top 40s.

FAVORITE MOVIE: Oh boy there are a few! “Sweet Home Alabama,” “You’ve Got Mail,” “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” and yep … “The Wizard of Oz.”

FAVORITE TV SHOW: Don’t have one, but don't mind watching re-runs of “The Office,” “Seinfeld,” etc.

FAVORITE SONG: Nothing like belting out “The Piano Man” in the car!

TRAIT I MOST ADMIRE: Kindness — not really a trait perhaps but something we should all have more of … and practice!

PET PEEVE:  When shopping carts don't get replaced, and the phrase “I ain't got none!”

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT OUR LITTLE CORNER OF THE WORLD: Wow, we have so much! The beaches, downtown, Wilcox Park, hiking/running trails ...

CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT: My family and flip flops, can't forget those!

LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT ME: I have run nine marathons, over a dozen half marathons, two ultra marathons, an ultra relay, and other races … my friend Rosemary got me hooked on long distances when our girls were very little. I signed up for my first thinking if I did that and told everyone I knew I had to stick to it. I hated the first one and said I’d never run one again.

BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED: “Keep Smiling.” A very wise man told me that … my dad.

ADVICE IBEST LIKE TO GIVE:  The Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” … and “We can't help everyone but everyone can help someone” … good ol’ Ronnie Reagan said that.

IF I RULED THE WORLD I WOULD: There’s too much to list but let’s start with ending violence of all sorts and creating more acceptance and tolerance, add a splash of empathy in there too, along with putting an end to children living in poverty and to homelessness … and doing something about health care/insurance … ending animal abuse … I could go on.

IF I WON THE LOTTERY, THE FIRST THING I WOULD DO IS: Help family/friends, set up a large endowment to The Westerly Lions Club. We do a tremendous amount in our community. And I’d set up a huge animal rescue farm … and quit my job so I could volunteer a lot more.

I DRIVE A: Gray 2014 Mercedes E350.

I WISH I DROVE A: I don't really have a dream car but would love a ’67 Camaro.

ALWAYS IN MY FRIDGE: Cheese and a variety of berries.

IF I COULD HOST A DINNER PARTY WITH A GROUP OF PEOPLE FROM THE PAST, PRESENT OR FUTURE, I WOULD INVITE: My dad who passed away two years ago, Anne Frank, Pope Francis, Princess Diana, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Fallon, Billy Joel, Lucille Ball, Julia Roberts, Evelyn Mott (my Gram) and Margaret Abate (aka Little Gram.)
