WESTERLY — The first of what are expected to become regular community update meetings on Westerly State Airport is scheduled for Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the common space of the facility’s terminal.
The meetings will be conducted at least two times per year or as needed, said Linda Hughes, Rhode Island Airport Corporation vice president of marketing, air service and media relations. The public is welcome to attend.
The facility’s new fixed base operator, Flight Level Aviation, of Norwood Mass. will be formally introduced at the meeting and officials will discuss a decision to have RIAC take over maintenance for the airport. Flight Level Aviation was hired to run the airport’s counter, collect landing fees, and park the planes. It performs the same services at the state’s four other general aviation airports.
