Coast Guard, local agencies search for 2 fisherman near Nantucket



BOSTON — Coast Guard crews along with local agencies and good Samaritans are searching for two fishermen after their fishing boat sank Monday evening 10 miles southeast of Nantucket.

At approximately 6:10 p.m. the First Coast Guard District command center received a distress call via an emergency positioning indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) from the 69-foot fishing vessel Misty Blue with four crewmembers aboard. The Misty Blue is out of New Bedford.

The fishing boat Enterprise was in the area and rescued two of the crewmembers and transferred them to Coast Guard Cutter Steelhead.

Coast Guard and local agencies are currently searching for the remaining two crewmembers. The cause of the sinking is under investigation.

-An HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed wing aircraft from Air Station Cape Cod

-A 47-foot Motor Lifeboat from Coast Guard Station Brant Point

-Coast Guard Cutter Steelhead, an 87-foot patrol boat

-Coast Guard Cutter Tybee, a 110-foot patrol boat

-Barnstable County Sheriff

-Dennis Fire Department

-Fishing vessel Enterprise
