Gov. Raimondo to hold office hours at the beach, sign order on single-use plastics

PROVIDENCE — Gov. Gina Raimondo plans to hold “summer office hours” at the beach. The first event will be Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at Scarborough State Beach in Narragansett. She will be accompanied by members of her Office of Constituent Services to help connect residents with various services.

Janet Coit, director of the state Department of Environmental Management, will join Raimondo at Scarborough. While there, the governor plans to sign an executive order to reduce reliance on single-use plastics that can end up in the state’s waters. Raimondo said she looks forward to hosting office hours and hearing directly from residents at some of the state’s most popular destinations. She plans to go to East Matunuck State Beach in South Kingstown on July 23 and Lincoln Woods State Park on Aug. 3.
