PROVIDENCE (AP) — The Coast Guard is suspending its search for a kayaker reported overdue from a trip on the Providence River. Matthew Perry, of Warwick, left in a 10-foot kayak around noon Friday near Conimicut Point in Warwick and was expected to be on the water for an hour. When he didn't return as planned, his wife called 911.

Boat, helicopter and ground crews from the Coast Guard, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and five area police and fire departments have been looking for the Warwick man.

The Coast Guard said Saturday it had suspended its search for Perry pending the development of new information.
