AAA: Despite holiday travel, gas prices unchanged in Rhode Island



PROVIDENCE – The price of gas remains unchanged in the past week despite an increase in the number of travelers as a result of the Thanksgiving holiday, according to AAA Northeast.

According to a survey of gas prices in Rhode Island on Monday, the price of regular, unleaded gasoline remains unchanged at an average of $2.60 per gallon. Although good news for the consumer, the cost per gallon remains 40 cents higher than over the same period a year ago.

The unchanged prices also mark an end to a short incline leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday. In the previous two weeks, gas had gone up by three cents per gallon.

The average price in Rhode Island is now nine cents higher than the national average of $2.51 per gallon. The range of prices in Rhode Island varied by 27 cents per gallon, from a low of $2.43 to a high of $2.70.

Self Serve, Grade

$2.60 ($2.43-$2.70), Regular Unleaded

$2.89 ($2.71-$2.99), Midgrade Unleaded

$3.08 ($2.93-$3.19), Premium Unleaded

$2.82, ($2.76-$2.89), Diesel
