What do you like best about being the Chariho mascot?

“The students, of course! I am lucky that our high school has a spirited group of students who call themselves ‘The Herd.’ They accompany me to so many different sporting events and we root on our Chariho Chargers together. Also, being able to witness the talented skills of so many of our students who participate in extracurricular activities and athletics.”

We love your new look! Who or what inspired this transformation, and would you describe it as "equestrian chic?”

“To be honest, my old self was getting a bit ‘smelly’ from all those years cheering on The Herd. My athletic director,” Michael Shiels, and high school clerk, Heather Card, “helped with this transformation. They spent some time making sure I truly represented The Herd and put my ‘best hoof forward,’ if you know what I mean. In terms of my fashion style, I agree that ‘equestrian chic’ captures it well. I recently went through a bit of a grunge phase, but now I’ve moved to a more equine-sophisticate look.”

Can you talk about some of the challenges of your job?

“Sometimes” our principal, Craig MacKenzie, “asks me at the last minute to appear at a special event and I just have to be like, ‘OK.’ It’s a lot of pressure being a high school mascot; people don’t realize this. In those moments I dig deep and make it happen. It’s all worth it in the long run.”

What do you do when you are not working? Do you have any hobbies, or even a second job?

“In the fall, I sometimes moonlight as a soccer goalie. In the winter, I enjoy pottery-making, and in the summer I'm an avid kite-surfer.”

Can you tell us something about yourself that most people don't know?

“I’m on social media. I can be seen promoting Chariho events on Twitter courtesy of the Chariho Boosters.”
