TOWN OF WESTERLY PROPOSED ORDINANCE Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held in the Council Chambers, Town Hall, Westerly, Rhode Island, on Monday, October 1, 2018, at 6:00 o'clock p.m., or as close to that time as possible, in accordance with the Home Rule Charter of the Town of Westerly, to consider the following Proposed Ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE IN AMENDMENT OF ARTICLE VII, BUILDING SEWERS, OF CHAPTER 206 OF THE WESTERLY CODE OF ORDINANCES ENTITLED 'SEWERS'" The Town of Westerly hereby ordains: Section 1. Article VII of the Sewer Ordinance of the Town of Westerly entitled 'Building Sewers' is hereby amended by adding thereto the following: §206-47.1. Grinder Pumps. Grinder pumps shall be furnished and maintained by the owners of the premises upon which they are located and shall conform to the following specifications as a minimum: A. Tank shall be set level, on a firm bed, with minimum headroom of four (4) feet, in a readily accessible location. B. House sewer pipe shall be adapted to a 4" PVC socket provided in the tank with an approved adapter. The tank shall be properly vented to free air with a three-inch diameter vent pipe. C. Grinder pump discharge shall consist of a 1.25" brass male pipe thread. A nipple union, shut-off valve and such elbows as may be necessary shall be installed in such a manner that, upon unfastening the union, the core of the pump may be removed readily with no obstructions. All fittings shall be of brass, copper, or stainless steel. D. There shall be a 4" gravity type check valve installed on the 4" gravity sewer line between the house and the pump pit as well as prior to the discharge pipe leaving the pit. E. The house sewer line to the unit shall be 4" schedule 40 PVC. All exterior installations shall be connected to the sewer main following the standards enumerated above for interior installations. Pipe through foundation wall shall be sleeved and caulked so as to be watertight. F. Each grinder pump shall be connected to an electrical service capable of supporting the electrical load imposed by the pump and all electrical connections shall conform to appropriate state and local codes. G. Before being placed in service, each grinder pump installation shall be put through one complete operation cycle using fresh water. Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect upon passage. That the portion of the private road known as Golf Club Drive within the Town of Westerly from the Charlestown town line to the Shelter Harbor Golf Club House, be so named. Section 2. That the Town of Westerly will not accept the private road known as Golf Club Drive into the Town's roadway system. Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage.
