Workers from E.F. O’Donnell & Sons, a Providence-based company specializing in renovations to historic properties, is performing repairs to the Westerly Train Station on Railroad Avenue.According to the state Department of Transportation, which owns the building, the company is repairing the roof to address water that is leaking from joints around the central pediment, the stone ornamental structure that rises up from the building’s roof.The work should be completed in about two weeks. Minor interior work is planned for later in the fall. Work to the paved walkways was performed during the summer.For those interested in the future of the building, which was constructed in 1912, Amtrak ceased its use of the structure in September 2016.
