Chief nursing officer at South County Health elected to national board

WAKEFIELD — Anne Schmidt, RN, vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at South County Health, has been elected to the board of directors of the American Organization of Nurse Executives. The health care organization said Schmidt’s leadership experience is in ambulatory care, home health and hospital-based care. She served in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps, and was named the San Diego Naval Hospital’s Navy Nurse of the Year. She also received the State of Connecticut Nightingale Award for Nursing Excellence and Leadership. She holds a Master of Science degree in nursing degree from the University of San Diego and is certified as an adult nurse practitioner and executive of nursing practice.

The nurse executives’ professional association has more than 9,700 members. It provides leadership, professional development, advocacy and research to advance nursing practice and patient care, and to shape public policy for health care. It is a subsidiary of the American Hospital Association. Schmidt will serve a three-year term on the board of directors beginning in January.
