NECBL: Schooners earn victory in ninth on Trousdale’s single; Monday’s game postponed

GROTON — John Trousdale’s walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth lifted the Mystic Schooners to a 4-3 win against the Keene Swamp Bats in the New England Collegiate Baseball League on Sunday night.

Trousdale’s hit scored TT Bowens with the winning run. Bowens had walked earlier in the inning. The bases were loaded when Bowens, a former Montville High standout, scored the winning run.

Trousdale, the ninth batter in the Mystic lineup, finished 3 for 4 with two RBIs. He also hit his first homer of the season, a solo shot in the sixth. Brian Rey led off the eighth with a homer to make it 3-3.

Logan Lessard, who retired the two batters he faced in the top of the eighth, earned the win.

Mystic is 3-5, while the Swamp Bats are 4-6.

The Schooners’ game against Ocean State scheduled for Monday at Fitch High was postponed to June 26 at 4 p.m. Mystic will visit Keene, N.H., on Tuesday for a 6:30 p.m. game against the Swamp Bats at Alumni Field.
