NARRAGANSETT — Dante Blancarte drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 12th to lead Tom Ready and Sons to a 4-3 win over White Fire Protection in Rhode Island Independent Amateur Baseball League play on Sunday at Sprague Park.Blancarte drove in Eddie Apice with a single that ended WFP’s season.Tom Ready and Sons moves on to the semifinal round of the league playoffs and will face the Blackstone A’s in a best of five series.Ready and Sons took an early 2-0 lead off of White Fire starter Corey Hickox in the second inning when Dave Northup hit a two-run home run to left field.The game remained 2-0 until White Fire knotted the score at 2-2 in the top of the sixth. Sean Becker singled, Nick Benoit doubled and Joe Haley hit an RBI single to score Becker. J.J. Sorensen brought in Benoit with an RBI groundout to account for the runs.In the top of the seventh White Fire took a 3-2 lead on an RBI single from Haley, which plated Ben Rice.Ready and Sons quickly tied the game in the bottom of the frame when John Jacobellis led off with a triple and came in on a Corey Briggs single.Hickox pitched seven innings for White Fire Protection, allowing just two runs. He struck out five, didn’t issue a walk and did not get a decision.Ready starer Jacobellis went eight innings and gave up three runs. Reliever Josh Sakol earned the win by throwing four scoreless innings of one-hit baseball.White Fire Protection finished the season with an 18-13 overall record after a 17-11 regular season.Tom Ready and Sons went 20-7 in the regular season, good for third place. The Blackstone A’s went 17-9 in the regular season and finished in fifth place.
